LAWRENCE SMITH
A native of Suffolk, Va, Lawrence graduated from Suffolk High School and received his B.S. degree from Hampden-Sydney College. He received his MBA degree from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, attended the School of International Banking at the University of Colorado and the Harvard Business School Chief Executive Officer School.
Lawrence began his business career in the investment banking industry in Richmond, Va. Lawrence missed his hometown and moved with his family back to Suffolk and continued his banking career there. He was elected President of the seventh largest bank in Virginia before he was 40 and also held the position of EVP of the states largest holding company. Lawrence established Resource Bank in 1992 and merged it with Fulton Bank in 2002. During his banking career, Lawrence served on more than a dozen boards, both civic and corporate. He is a very active member in his local community of Virginia Beach and is greatly respected among families and business individuals alike. He has been on the board of Argent for over 40 years and was elected Chairman of the Board in 2014. His main role is strategic planning and to review investments. Email // lnsmithaca@gmail.com |
